Floors on Floors
333 Dunsmuir is the Corporate Headquarters for BC Hydro located in the heart of Downtown Vancouver. Innovation and sustainable construction solutions were a great part of this LEED Gold 6-Floor Tenant Improvement featuring an open concept office design with Furniture Partition System, Spacious Conference and Breakout Rooms, and State of the Art Lighting, Electrical, Mechanical, and Building Automation Systems.
Keeping the Schedule
With an ongoing operation, maintaining business operations is paramount as well as avoiding impact to the people and environment surrounding the work area. Within these buildings there are many risks to be addressed such as elevator availability, loading bay deliveries, noisy work times, multi-floor building systems, and so much more to be considered when scheduling. The schedule of this particular project was tight to say the least but our in house Interior Space Renovations Team was able to accommodate the client with a well refined phasing plan which resulted in all move-in dates and a successful completion of the entire project all while maintaining a Sustainable and Green result.
Sustainability
HKM was able to achieve a LEED Gold level on this project. Segregation and documentation of all materials was completed on a daily basis and cataloged while new products were run through a rigorous quality control check prior to being allowed on the project site. Ongoing air-quality monitoring and control systems were used to mitigate impacts to the surrounding working environments leaving building occupants unaffected by the daily work. This project was a huge success for Green Building and a great demonstration to what’s possible in today’s construction industry.
LEED Gold Environmental standards were a very important part of this project. HKM was able to achieve a 95% diversion rate from landfills.
